Lula Wins Fourth Term as Brazil's President
Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva has won Brazil's presidential runoff, securing a fourth term as president. His opponent, Flávio Bolsonaro, has refused to accept the result and is demanding it be annulled. The two candidates had fought for the decisive votes right up to the end of the race.
Why it matters
Lula's win will shape Brazil's political direction, while the Bolsonaro camp's protests could trigger a new period of political tension. The outcome in Latin America's largest economy could also affect regional and global trade relations.
